Your Brain and Central
Nervous System

The central nervous system (CNS) is the primary control center for the body. It is responsible for processing and coordinating all sensory information and motor functions, as well as overseeing a wide range of critical bodily functions.

How NeurOptimal® Affects It

Tap Into Your Central Nervous System

Self-regulation: The auditory interruptions (or shifts in sound) that occur during a NeurOptimal session are meant to alert the brain to its own momentary dysfunctions or inefficient patterns. In response, the CNS adjusts its functioning in a self-regulatory process. The theory behind this is that the brain has an inherent ability to self-correct when it receives real-time information about its current state.

Non-directive Approach: Unlike traditional neurofeedback approaches that aim to train specific brainwave patterns (e.g., alpha, beta, theta), NeurOptimal is non-directive, meaning it does not push the brain in any specific direction. Instead, the brain is simply presented with information about its functioning, allowing it to “reorganize” itself toward optimal performance.
